What To Do If Your iPhone Touch Screen Isn’t Responding

LCD Screen Repair at iFixYouriAn iPhone touch screen that is not responding can be a challenging problem. The device is quite costly, so any issue that requires repair is automatically frustrating. When it stops working, it means that your main line of communication is cut off from the world. It can even endanger your livelihood, if you rely on your phone for work.

Here are a few things that a person can do when the screen becomes unresponsive.

Troubleshooting Unresponsive iPhone Touchscreen

Certain applications take up a great deal of memory, which can cause the phone to freeze up. This is very likely to occur when several programs are being run at the same time. If the phone becomes unresponsive, it is best to force the application to stop. To do this, hold down the home button until the application stops and the screen once again becomes responsive.

Restart the iPhone

If you’re unsuccessful in stopping the application, it may be necessary to restart the entire phone. The on/off button should be held until the red slide bar appears. Power down the phone and turned back on. This should make the phone responsive again.

Resetting the iPhone

Under rare circumstances, an iPhone touchscreen will still not respond after a restart. In these cases, it will become necessary to reset the phone. This is different from the above restart; the phone will be forced to shut down without the normal closeout process. Resetting the phone involves holding the on/off button and the home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears and goes away. After the device is off, it can be turned back on in a few seconds. By this time, the phone should be working again.

Restoring with iTunes

If none of the above seem to work, the next step is to connect the phone to a computer and open iTunes. On the Summary pane, a person can select “Restore”. If the phone does not appear in iTunes, there’s not much you can do yourself at this point, but you can still get it fixed or salvage the value of the phone.

Professional Assistance for Unresponsive iPhone Touch Screen

If the iPhone screen is still not responding, it may be necessary to take the phone in for professional repair or sell your iPhone for cash. An experienced repair shop, like iFixYouri, will be able to evaluate and fix the problem with no hassle. This will avoid further damage or loss of data in the phone. iPhones are very expensive and sensitive. Getting the job done correctly will save a lot of headaches down the line.

Do You Need iPhone Digitizer Replacement?

If you bought an iPhone, you know that the touch capabilities are the best part about it. The component that makes this enjoyable experience possible is the digitizer, which is firmly fixed to the screen. Unfortunately, this means that if your touchscreen gets broken or damaged, you will require iPhone digitizer replacement as well.

How iPhone Digitizer Replacement Works

The digitizer is like a thin plastic film attached to the screen. It’s sensitive to your finger movements, and sends information about the position and movements of your fingers to the motherboard. The information you enter with your fingers is analog information, and it is converted by the digitizer into digital, or computer-readable, data.

Why You Might Need a Replacement

If the screen is damaged, it is usually the result of the phone being dropped, or knocking against something – a very common occurrence. However, it’s possible that the digitizer itself can develop problems. Symptoms that could indicate that your digitizer needs replacing include:

  • No response from your screen when you touch it.
  • There is a response, but it is very slow.
  • Some areas respond erratically, or not at all.
  • Some applications seem to open unpredictably or randomly.

If you experience any of these problems, your digitizer is faulty and needs replacing – repair is not an option.

Whether the digitizer needs replacing because it is faulty in itself, or because the screen is damaged, it cannot be replaced by itself. Because it is fused to the screen, the two are in effect a single component, so you have to replace the screen as well. There are various ways to do this.

How to Replace the iPhone Digitizer

You can try to do it yourself. There are a number of low-cost digitizer replacement kits on the market, and several instructional three-minute video clips online. However, it is a very difficult repair to do successfully, especially if the kits supply cheap plastic tools rather than metal, and you don’t have years of experience and know-how. This can cause serious frustration. There’s even a chance of causing additional damage to the iPhone. There is also the option of using Apple’s own repair service, though this costs up to $200 and has a lengthy wait time.

The easiest and most satisfactory way of obtaining an iPhone digitizer replacement is usually to find a reliable professional repair company. This is likely to be a lot cheaper than using Apple’s service, or paying the deductible for your carrier’s phone insurance. Make sure you choose a company that offers a warranty, lists prices on its website, and can guarantee a fast turnaround, such as iFixYouri.

The Simple Truth

The chances of damaging your iPhone are actually pretty high. As you can imagine, the inconvenience of being without it can be pretty painful. It’s a smart idea to identify a reliable repair service in advance, such as iFixYouri, that specializes in matters such as iPhone digitizer replacement just in case you need it. Alternatively, if your phone is damaged and you’re ready for an upgrade, you could always sell your old iPhone for cash.

The Best Phone Screen Protectors

An iPhone is the most expensive cell phone in the market. Therefore, when you buy an iPhone, you should do everything you can to protect it. The screen is particularly prone to scratches and other scuffs.  The essential form of protection is a screen protector. There are many screen protectors in the market, and naturally, some will offer better protection than others. Listed below are some of the best iPhone protectors available today.

Skinomi TechSkin Screen Protector

This screen protector is made from clear urethane film which is actually the same film used to protect NASA space shuttles and military aircraft. The best thing about this screen protector is that it has the ability to resist abrasion. Therefore, if you want value for your money, the skinomi protector should be your first choice.

Generiks Screen Protector

The Generiks screen protector features High-Quality Anti-Glare Screen that is aggression-resistant, making it ideal for your iPhone. The best thing about this protector is that it is not as expensive as the others. Therefore, when you buy it, you will be getting quality at a cheaper price.

Premium Screen Protector

It features a 3-layer PET film which was designed for iPhone 4S. It effectively protects your natural screen from scratches and dust. The whole package includes a microfiber cleaning cloth and 3 bonus back films. This makes the premium screen protector a must have for anyone who still uses iPhone 4S.

Empire 5-pack Screen Protector

The Empire 5-pack is clear, thin and durable. It does not leave fingerprints on your screen. The package includes a cleaning cloth and 5 screen protectors.

Halo Screen Protector

Halo screen protectors are highly-rated protectors in the market today. This can be attributed to the fact that these protectors offer higher quality. They offer minimal screen bubbles, are easy to install and can be re-used. The pack includes 3 films to ensure that you have a spare at all times.

Iconic Screen Protection

It not only protects your iPhone screen, but also reduces glare under strong light. In addition to that, it will not affect your screen’s interface.

Screen protectors will definitely protect your screen from scratches; however, when it comes to serious damage such as cracked screen or water damage, the screen protector will not be of any help. In such a case, you will have to take your iPhone to a repair store. At iFixYouri we specialize in repairing damaged iPads, iPhones, laptops and computers.

Is The iPhone Screen Scratch Resistant?

Free iPhone AppsThe iPhone is a fairly resilient piece of technology. That does not, however, mean that it cannot be damaged. While the things that can cause the phone to become non-functional are few and far between, there are a number of issues that can cause cosmetic damage.

One of the biggest issues tends to be screen scratching, and figuring out whether the screen is scratch resistant is usually rather important. The answer to that question is quite complex, and figuring out ways to keep the screen from getting scratched is usually smarter than relying on the native protection of the device.

So is the iPhone Screen Scratch Resistant or Not?

The earliest version of the iPhone was not very resistant to scratching. The original phone and the 3G were fairly prone to scratches, but there was some improvement on the 3GS. From the 3GS onward, iPhone screen scratch resistant coating has been used. The degree to which the screen can be scratched varies from model to model – the 3GS is still relatively easy to scratch, while the 5 is much harder to scratch. It is important to note that all of the phones are “scratch-resistant”, not “scratch-proof.” If you try hard enough, you can scratch any of the phones.

Is it an Issue?

Most scratches on the iPhone are mere cosmetic issues. While they can be obnoxious for those who watch movies on the phone or play games, they will not interfere with operation. Larger scratches, though, can make the phone much harder to use. They usually do not interfere with the actual working processes of the phone or the capacitive touch screen, but they will make it much harder to see the various bits of information on the screen. As such, scratched screens can be a big problem.

Protecting Your Phone

If you want to make sure that your phone does not get scratched, you can take one of several options. The first, and perhaps cheapest, is keeping an eye on your phone at all times. Protecting it like it is fragile will keep it away from anything that can scratch it, but accidents can still happen.

A better solution is to make use of a screen protector. You can get a set of several protectors for a few dollars, and most will keep you from ever getting a scratch on the glass. At the far end of the protection spectrum are cases with hard fronts—almost nothing can get to your phone through these cases.

How to Repair a Scratched iPhone Screen

The bad news is that a scratched screen is a problem that you cannot repair on your own. The good news is the process for getting it fixed is relatively simple and inexpensive.  You can send the phone to an iPhone repair store like iFixYouri.  The cost for scratch repair will always be cheaper than buying a new phone.  Now that you know the iPhone screen isn’t completely scratch resistant, you should take extra care of it.

iPhone 4 Breaks in Drop Test, Not Just Parts – VIDEO

About a week ago a few of the techs and I decided to drop test an iPhone 4 to test screen damage resistance (we had a full iPhone, minus the motherboard). This test came under scrutiny since there was no ‘video’ proof and the iPhone parts used were questioned. We did not use any hammers, ice picks, or axes to break it. Just gravity. We did not throw it or spike it.

We told everyone that once we have a full iPhone, functioning, we’d be posting a video of us drop testing. The test was completed on a sunny afternoon in Florida, behind our repair facility. The area where it was dropped was free of pebbles and/or small rocks. It was a flat surface out in our parking lot. The height it was performed at, was about the level where you would be holding the phone out in front of you.

Well, the day has come, we have a complete working iPhone, straight from Apple, in our hands today. We disassembled it, took some pictures, reassembled it, showed that it works and that it is a functioning iPhone in the video. This video is completely unedited. What you are about to see is heart breaking. Our next step will be to perform and iPhone repair to show how we can clean up a broken iPhone 4 screen when suffering glass damage.

****WARNING – THE VIDEO YOU ARE ABOUT TO VIEW CONTAINS SOME GRAPHIC SCENES. IT IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART*****
