Is the iPhone 3G Compatible With the 3Gs’s Screen Replacement?

iphone-3gs-screen-replacement-ifixyouriiPhone 3Gs screen replacement can be a concern for individuals who own this version of the popular smartphone. The 3Gs is the second release of the earlier iPhone 3G, and it came with some significant improvements to the device. As a result, the 3G and 3Gs screens are not compatible in terms of the connector on the logic board.

However, A cracked iPhone screen is not a cause for despair or a reason to buy a new smartphone. Third-party replacement screens are available for this version of the iPhone, and skilled technicians can fix it properly.

Causes for iPhone 3Gs Screen Replacement

The glass on this smartphone’s touch screen in relatively durable, although it is not indestructible. Dropping an iPhone too often, stepping on it, or accidentally hitting it with a heavy object will crack or shatter the screen in many instances. A broken screen is unresponsive to tapping or swiping, so the phone will not be functional until the owner has the touchscreen replaced.

Specific Repair Required for the iPhone 3Gs Model

The iPhone 3Gs is the same size as the 3G, so they look identical. The main difference is the digitizer connector that plugs into the logic board.

Also, with the iPhone 3Gs original design, the glass is not attached to the LCD the same way as later versions of this particular smartphone. This type of manufacturing can facilitate repair, but it can also increase the chances of the glass breaking or shattering. When iPhone owners consult a repair technician, they often need to have the LCD examined to ensure it has not sustained damage along with the cracked glass.

Repair with High Quality Parts

A high quality and knowledgeable smartphone repair service will use replacement parts that are high quality. Replacing a broken iPhone screen with one that is good quality carries a very high rate of success. One of these replacement screens normally works just as well as the original part.

iPhone 3Gs screen replacement costs and repair are available at many brick and mortar electronics storefronts, but one of the most convenient methods is to send it to technicians through a mail-in repair option, like the one offered by iFixYouri. Individuals with broken iPhone screens can ship their broken phone for repair and receive it back fairly quickly.

Repair Warranties Regarding 3Gs Screen Replacement

3Gs screen replacement is one of the most frequent iPhone repair needs. As a result, your damaged phone will be in good hands with technicians with screen repair experience. Often, warranties or other types of contracts that guarantee free additional repair if a replaced touch screen does not function correctly will be included.

Do You Need iPhone Digitizer Replacement?

If you bought an iPhone, you know that the touch capabilities are the best part about it. The component that makes this enjoyable experience possible is the digitizer, which is firmly fixed to the screen. Unfortunately, this means that if your touchscreen gets broken or damaged, you will require iPhone digitizer replacement as well.

How iPhone Digitizer Replacement Works

The digitizer is like a thin plastic film attached to the screen. It’s sensitive to your finger movements, and sends information about the position and movements of your fingers to the motherboard. The information you enter with your fingers is analog information, and it is converted by the digitizer into digital, or computer-readable, data.

Why You Might Need a Replacement

If the screen is damaged, it is usually the result of the phone being dropped, or knocking against something – a very common occurrence. However, it’s possible that the digitizer itself can develop problems. Symptoms that could indicate that your digitizer needs replacing include:

  • No response from your screen when you touch it.
  • There is a response, but it is very slow.
  • Some areas respond erratically, or not at all.
  • Some applications seem to open unpredictably or randomly.

If you experience any of these problems, your digitizer is faulty and needs replacing – repair is not an option.

Whether the digitizer needs replacing because it is faulty in itself, or because the screen is damaged, it cannot be replaced by itself. Because it is fused to the screen, the two are in effect a single component, so you have to replace the screen as well. There are various ways to do this.

How to Replace the iPhone Digitizer

You can try to do it yourself. There are a number of low-cost digitizer replacement kits on the market, and several instructional three-minute video clips online. However, it is a very difficult repair to do successfully, especially if the kits supply cheap plastic tools rather than metal, and you don’t have years of experience and know-how. This can cause serious frustration. There’s even a chance of causing additional damage to the iPhone. There is also the option of using Apple’s own repair service, though this costs up to $200 and has a lengthy wait time.

The easiest and most satisfactory way of obtaining an iPhone digitizer replacement is usually to find a reliable professional repair company. This is likely to be a lot cheaper than using Apple’s service, or paying the deductible for your carrier’s phone insurance. Make sure you choose a company that offers a warranty, lists prices on its website, and can guarantee a fast turnaround, such as iFixYouri.

The Simple Truth

The chances of damaging your iPhone are actually pretty high. As you can imagine, the inconvenience of being without it can be pretty painful. It’s a smart idea to identify a reliable repair service in advance, such as iFixYouri, that specializes in matters such as iPhone digitizer replacement just in case you need it. Alternatively, if your phone is damaged and you’re ready for an upgrade, you could always sell your old iPhone for cash.

DIY Fix: The iPhone Repair Kit

iphone-repair-kit-ifixyouriThe iPhone has a carefully engineered design that it appears so sleek and compact while packing the best features a smartphone can have beyond the mainstream standards. Unlike other electronic devices with screws and cracks, which can be used to access the internal components, the iPhone appears seamless, brought about by its unified design concept. Thus, the internal components of the Apple smartphone cannot be accessed easily without the use of an iPhone repair kit.

Why Get An iPhone Repair Kit?

The issues one may experience with an iPhone is indicative of the problems one may experience with any sophisticated electronic device. However, the added element of  this particular device being so closely streamlined to our own individual lives make it that much more sensitive. Here are the reoccuring problems that may warrant an iPhone repair kit:

Issues with the iPhone

Apple has always emphasized integrity when it comes to the design of their products. The iPhone, in particular, was designed in such a way that end-users would just have to enjoy the features of the product without having to deal with common issues that other smartphones possess. In certain instances, however, the iPhone can still be prone to some unlikely issues such as screen damage and battery replacement.

Damage of the LCD Screen

Screen damage of the Apple smartphone is highly unlikely because of the tough Gorilla glass protecting the liquid crystal display (LCD) screen. Nonetheless, impacts strong enough to push beyond the threshold of the Gorilla glass can still occur. When the glass is cracked, the phone may still function but the display can be difficult to read due to the crack lines along the damaged portion of the screen.

Shorter Battery Life

Another issue with the iPhone is battery replacement. No matter how strict quality control is in the manufacturing unit of Apple, product deviations from the norm are unavoidable. Among these deviations, battery life seems to be the most relevant. Not all batteries are created equal although strict manufacturing conditions intend to create these power packs identical. Hence, some iPhone units have longer lasting batteries while some others have less. For this kind of issue, battery replacement is ultimately the most obvious solution if not to buy another smartphone.

The iPhone Repair Kit

Note: It should be emphasized that due to the complicated nature of this device, the best measure for having an iPhone repaired that has experienced significant damage would be to take it an expert such as iFixYouri.

A set of screwdrivers is not enough to pry open the iPhone for repair; that is why third-party manufacturers came up with a repair kit especially put together for repairing the Apple smartphone. A kit designed for this purpose usually comprises opening levers, guitar opening tools, and pentalobe screwdrivers among others.

Opening levers are ideally made of strong plastic so as to avoid scratching the metallic components of the unit while still being able to apply enough force. The pentalobe screws designed for resistance from tampering can be unscrewed with specially designed pentalobe screwdrivers. Other accessories may include suction caps and phone mounting brackets for organized DIY repairs of the smartphone.

The Simple Truth

Not all issues, however, can be repaired with a DIY iPhone repair kit. For advanced technical issues beyond DIY repair, iPhone owners should bring their units to repair centers where skilled technicians with advanced tools can certainly solve most, if not all, issues.

Global Shipment of Androids to Exceed 1 Billion by 2013

Damaged Android smartphoneAccording to IHS, the total number of Android phones shipped globally will exceed the 1 billion mark by 2013. The first Android-run smartphone was first shipped in 2008 and almost five years later, the number of shipments is expected to surpass the 1 billion mark.

Daniel Gleeson said that Android smartphones have taken the world by surprise. “We expect the Android smartphones to become the first to reach the milestone in its lifetime,” he said.

Android operating system is owned by Google and they make the software available to third party smartphones brands free of charge.

Android Smartphones Dominates the Market

Google chairman Eric Schmidt confirmed the news in a recent interview. He said that there are currently over 500 million Android phones worldwide. He also said that there are about 1.3 million devices being activated each day. “If the trend continues, we will hit the 1 billion mark by next year,” he said. Mr. Schmidt also said Android had won the battle with Apple’s iOS.

Android is King in Asia

A recent report by Dr. Madanmohan Rao claims that the recent success of South Korean mobile firm Samsung can be attributed to the Android operating system. Thanks to Android, Samsung is now the leading mobile company in south East Asia. As a matter of fact, half of all the smartphones sales in South East Asia are Samsung phones.

The Android fever has also swept Philippines and other Asian countries. A large number of people prefer Android phones as opposed to other phones. Globe Telecom, the leading telecommunications company in the Philippines, recently launched the Samsung Galaxy Note II. The phone has a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, 5.5 inch HD super AMOLED, 3100mAH battery and many more features. It goes without saying that the phone is powered by the Android operating system.

The sad thing about people who buy Android smartphones is that most of them damage their phones within the first 6 months of purchase. Many people think that once their smartphone is damaged, it cannot be fixed. Contrary to common belief, damaged smartphones can easily be repaired. We at iFixYouri specialize in repairing damaged smartphones.

iPhone 4 Repair Free by Apple!!?? No…not really

After several tests performed by the iFixyouri staff, Apple has decided to perform a free iPhone 4 repair for anyone with broken screen or water damage.  It is really cool that a billion dollar company has decided to take notice of our screen (on ground) breaking iPhone 4 tests. Ok, not exactly.

Consumer Reports did say that Apple should provide a free iPhone repair to anyone who is have antenna issues with their new iPhone 4. This bit of news came shortly after their announcement that the iPhone was the best smartphone around. After Apple gave their much talked about press conference in which they announced free bumpers to everyone, they mildly changed their tone:

“Consumer Reports believes Apple’s offer of free cases is a good first step. However, Apple has indicated that this is not a long-term solution, it has guaranteed the offer only through September 30th, and has not extended it unequivocally to customers who bought cases from third-party vendors. We look forward to a long-term fix from Apple. As things currently stand, the iPhone 4 is still not one of our Recommended models.”

The reality is that if you by this beautiful, yet fragile device you better buy a screen protector and protective shield to basically alleviate many of the potential issues aside from water damage. Without it your iPhone 4 is very vulnerable to breaking. Even with a protective case the LCD could die but in terms of protecting the screen from cracking or shattering they do a great job. As we proved in our tests, the bumper is great for helping with reception problems but in terms of protecting the glass it does nothing.

Any notion that Consumer Reports or any other such negative publicity is going to hurt iPhone 4 sales has proven to be false. It may turn a few people away but the fevering reporting on the issue makes the iPhone the ‘in’ item once again. That is not to say that there are not other great options, which there are but the fact is that the much to do about nothing issues are easily correctable. Is it bogus that you have to buy a protective case to get reception? Perhaps, just as it is bogus that you need it to protect the glass. But hey, that’s the smartphone world we live in so deal with it.

If you have become one of the unlucky many to break your iPhone give us a call, that’s what we are here for.
