It’s amazing! People are already coming from everywhere in central Florida to get their precious iPhone’s repaired, and we’ve only been open for 4 days!

We have already seen iPhone repair requests from all over the greater Orlando areas.  From Winter Park to Lake Mary, we have customers coming from all parts of Orlando.

Its the newest member of the iFixYouri Team, Pete,  just wanted to touch base with our blog followers and let them know we are stocked with accessories and inventory in Orlando.  Which is a good thing, considering the news that iPhone 4’s are more prone to accidental damage than the 3g or 3gs.  According to macrumors.com, four months after iPhone purchases, 2.8% of 3gs users compared to 4.7% of iPhone 4 users reported accidental damage.  Their data showed that iPhone 4 users report accidents 68% more frequently than 3gs users.

Another little side note about the iPhone, J.D. Power just announced that the Apple iPhone has topped the list of smartphones for the fourth straight year in its new 2010 U.S. Wireless Smartphone Customer Satisfaction Study.  No wonder we love our phones so much……they are the BEST!!!

We have confirmation that not only will DJ Casper be spinning at our Grand Opening November 13th @ 12086 Collegiate Way  Orlando, FL 32807, but so will his fellow partner in crime, the one and only DJ Y Not.  So, without a doubt, they will be bringing the out some great vinyl and dropping some nasty tunes.  Hope to see you all there!!

Hello World!

My name is Pete and I am the newest member of the iFixYouri Team.  Being another graduate from University of Central Florida with my MIS degree, I fit well into the mix of other UCF grads that work at iFixYouri.  I come from the world of telecom where I honed my skills as a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Specialist & technician and now have transitioned into the wonderful world of iPhone repair and Smartphone wisdom.  I am really excited to get to know some of our blog followers and great customers that iFix has acquired.  Please feel free to reach out to me anytime if you have any questions regarding iPhones or anything else.

Our new facility is AWESOME, so I am very happy to invite everyone to our Grand Opening on Saturday November 13th @ 12086 Collegiate Way  Orlando, FL 32817.  Our wonderful friend and official DJ, DJ Casper will be making the trek from Tampa to lay down some terrific tunes and I will be cooking up some food on our grill.  So needless to say, I hope everyone can make it out!! Bring your friends and have them bring their friends, fun will be had be all!  We will be giving some gifts away too, so you really don’t want to miss out on the good times.

Hey everyone,

Sorry about the delayed blog postings. So today’s topic is iPhone Repair. in Orlando. Having lived in Orlando and attended school there, I know the area fairly well and my heart bleeds black and gold. With that being said, we’ve been in the process of opening our newest location in Orlando, directly across the street from UCF! Yes, we are close. So close that you can see the campus from our front door. It’s a great feeling!

Since we are alumni and we love our fellow Knights SOOOOO much, we wanted to bring back to the area where we learned so much. That’s why we just moved into our latest store on the corner of Alafaya Trail and University Blvd. We’re conveniently located in the same shopping center as Pita Pit and CB&S College book store. Whether you’re working in the technology park or you’re walking between classes, come by, take a quick break. We’ll get you repaired in minutes! Relax in our store, do some shopping, or enjoy some excellent food at our neighbor’s.

Today is a big day for us here at iFixYouri. We’re proud to announce the opening of our 2nd Orlando iPhone repair center. The new facility will be located directly across the street from the University of Central Florida on the corner of Alafaya Trail and University Blvd. Projected date for the store to open will be October 10th, 2010.

Our iPhone repair parts have been the focus to date but we are proud to announce other parts are starting to filter in. Repair services for HTC Evo screen replacement and Incredible have finally arrived!

We have received countless inquiries about these products but it has taken time to find quality products at an affordable price. Quality and affordability is possible.

Often times people ask us why we are charging more for a replacement screen. We will not buy a screen that scratches or breaks easily. If you are shopping around and find a price $20 than what we offer, we can almost guarantee that you are sacrificing quality. Given the fact that those shopping just broke their screen one way or another, we assume that you won’t make that mistake again. We welcome all feedback as we continue to grow our services.

iPhone screen repair – Cheapest Isn’t Always Best

Recently we had a customer  insist on us using his glass that he bought off ebay (said he paid about $15 for it) with our iPhone screen repair services. He wanted us to save our parts and “go ahead, please use this one.”

This glass was cheap. Poor poor quality. Thicker than the high quality parts we use here, weighed a different amount, different feel(to the touch), no oleophobic coating, touch response was lagging, etc.

We decided to go ahead with the repair, with his glass, to teach him a lesson (he was one of our good friends). We put on the glass, using the adhesive that he got with his kit. This adhesive only covered the top and the bottom of the frame. It didn’t give a full seal so dust was bound to get in between the glass and the LCD. When we put it all back together, the home button felt like it was sitting recessed in the glass, the edges were sitting above the bezel, and the touch response was way slow. We put it together as well as our highly trained techs could, but with the cheap glass, it had nothing but FAIL written all over it.

To top it off, when you pressed a certain part of the screen, it’d make the LCD go white with lines all over it!

Now you’re probably sitting here saying, wtf, why would you leave your buddy hanging with knock off glass, making the repair kind of shoddy? Well we didn’t.

After showing him exactly why in the DIY world, spending a couple extra bucks on proper iphone parts would save you a pain and agony, we went ahead and re-did the glass with our high quality parts. Once the iphone screen repair was complete, it made a world of difference. It looked, felt, and functioned, as if it had just come from the factory.

Some things to look for in an iPhone 3G/3Gs glass repair:

  • Glass sits level with the home button
  • Glass sits level with the bezel
  • Full frame adhesive should always be used to prevent dust between the glass and LCD
  • Proximity sensors should not be easily visible(with cheap glass, you’ll see 3 purple circles in the top left)
  • No dust/finger prints should be on the underside of the glass
  • iPhone 3Gs glass should have the oleophobic coating to prevent fingerprints.

Some things to look for in an iPhone 4 Glass repair

  • Glass and LCD should be bonded together
  • Home button should be flush
  • Metal grate in the earpiece should be present
  • Outside frame should be smooth, not looking like someone scraped it w/ a razor blade(yes, we’ve seen that)
  • Flush against the metal frame

iPhone Water Damage Repair for White iPhone 4

In efforts to show people the best way to save an iPhone 4 from death after water damage, we have decide to drop a custom white iPhone 4 in water and repair it. We offer the white iPhone 4 conversion service for anyone who is interested.


Steps to take:

As we told you in our last iPhone water damage video, make sure the iPhone is powered off. If you get a white pinwheel on the screen and it won’t turn of, you hold down the power button and home button until it turns off.

Next you remove the back cover by removing the 2 screws at the bottom of the iPhone 4 to expose the internals.

11 screws total hold the board in the housing.

Be sure to remove the SIM card tray.

Let sit for 24-48 hours before reassembling.

Our latest video where we decided to throw and iPhone 3G in water and fix it is our latest video installation meant to educate and entertain. Based on the amount of rice bags we’ve been receiving, it is safe to say people were paying attention.

Sunday we will publish our iPhone 4 water damage video, which stars our custom white iPhone 4 getting wet. I hate to spill the beans but let me tell you the end of the story: we fix it.
