How Long Does MacBook Screen Repair Take?

MacBooks are great computers that can prove their value by lasting for quite a long time. Accidents happen though, and you may find yourself needing a screen repair. Maybe your LCD is showing lines. The glass might be cracked. If a fall dented the corner, you may have simultaneously damaged the lid housing, the screen, and the LCD all at once. So now you are left wondering: how long does MacBook screen repair take?

iFixYouri has completed thousands of MacBook screen repairs, so we always will shoot straight with you regarding pricing and completion time. Our goal is to keep you happy and complete the repair efficiently. If anything changes about your original repair quote, we will keep you in the loop, getting approval before proceeding.

how much does macbook screen repair cost

How much will it cost?

First things first, let’s talk about what the big decision-making factor is for most people – the price. The price of a MacBook screen repair depends on the model of your laptop. We asked Steven, our veteran MacBook repair technician, to share some specifics of MacBook screen repair cost:

Older models that might only need an LCD replacement can have a repair cost as low as $100. Newer models with Retina displays that need an entire display assembly replacement may reach up to $500.

The quickest way to get a quote for a specific model is to find your MacBook on our website or call our main support at 888-494-4349.

So, how long will it take?

Replacing the display assembly on your MacBook typically takes about 1 – 2 hours. Please note that this is only the time required once the part is in stock and the repair is underway. Repair time can vary depending on part availability and the current repair queue. For this reason, we typically quote customers about 1 to 2 weeks for MacBook screen repairs requiring not-in-stock parts.

Where can I get my MacBook screen repair done?

Schedule an appointment and bring your Mac to an iFixYouri walk-in location today. MacBook repairs and same-day iPhone screen replacement are available at all iFixYouri locations.

Oh wait, do you repair all MacBook models?

Yup.

Fixing my iPad – What are the challenges?

“Hey, I’ve decided I’m gonna try fixing my iPad, is there anything I should look out for?” Yes, Absolutely.

Attempting a repair while lacking experience or knowledge, you can severely damage the iPad. Some botched repairs lead to the iPad no longer functioning. We see many cases where customers have attempted fixing their iPad. Due to the nature of the adhesive, positioning of flex cables, and the delicacy of these types of electronics and screens, they have destroyed what was normally a good working iPad that just needed a simple fix.

Many people think that they have a friend that claims they know how to work on iPads. Be wary: that friend might not have the level of expertise when it comes to fixing iPads properly.

What Problems Can I Expect While Fixing My iPad?

If you don’t use the right type of adhesive, then you can end up with a device where the glass won’t properly sit down in the housing, or it might start popping up.

If you don’t know how to handle the delicacy of logic board connectors and flex cables, then you can end up destroying devices. Several flex cables line the inside of the housing. If you’re not careful, the process of pulling the glass off can easily damage the cables.

We recently had a school that sent in quite a few devices to us, and one of the devices had been worked on by one of their IT administrators. The IT administrator, who normally is very skilled in fixing computers, was not very skilled with iPads and damaged it to the point where we could no longer repair it.

Removing the glass requires special heat pads and separation tools and a delicate hand. If you overheat the iPad, you risk damaging components like the LCD your battery. If you don’t heat it enough, then you’re going to struggle to break the adhesive free.

While working on iPads, make sure that the screws are always put back in place in the right holes. If you don’t put the screws back in the right place several things can happen. You can damage the logic board or the battery. You could cause damage that is not fixable.

Even if you get to the point where you were able to get everything apart simple things like not turning the iPad off can cause a short circuit on the logic board, blowing out backlights so the LCD no longer functions, creating a short on the connector, or burning out the board, to where the device will never work ever again.

Choose an Experienced iPad Repair Technician

There are so many opportunities to screw up the iPad, to put it bluntly. This is why we recommend having an expert iPad repair technician fix your device the right way. If you have an expert fix it then you’ll avoid all these potential traps and it will get done right the first time.

While some iPads can be fixed just by replacing the glass if they have a cracked screen, many others have the glass and LCD fused, to where you have to replace the fall assembly. Some of these assemblies are extremely expensive and the parts alone can cost $400-$500. While this might come as a shock to the unsuspecting consumer, the reality of it is that these iPads, when buying new or used, are still very very expensive, costing upwards of $1500.

In the case of iPad repair, going with the cheapest solution, may not always be the best solution. We highly advise you to take your time and do your due diligence when searching for an iPad repair company. Should you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us, will be happy to help you out in finding an iPad repair solution that meets your needs.

How Do I Find a Quality iPhone or iPad Repair Company Near Me?

Finding a provider of quality iPhone or iPad repair can be a bit tricky. With so many options out there, it can be a bit confusing and, at times, daunting. The following steps can simplify and make the whole process simple. Therefore, your device will end up in the hands of someone who will take good care of it.

quality iPhone or iPad repair - repair company reviews
Repair Company Reviews

Reading Reviews of Repair Companies

First and foremost, go online and see what you can find. A trusted repair shop will have reviews, responses to reviews, be somewhat active on social media, and nowadays will have some sort of history online. Google the company. See what their reviews are like. If they have any negative reviews, do yourself a favor and see if the repair company responds to those reviews.

Take the reviewers with a grain of salt. The old saying you can’t please everyone definitely comes into play here. Repair companies are working on with people’s prized, expensive possessions. Additionally, nearly all the customers have broken this prized possession. Now add to this scenario: the company cannot fix their most prized possession and let’s say there may even be an issue of data loss. This is a recipe that may put the customer in a state of frustration.

The reality here is that repair companies cannot fix everything. They can fix a lot of things, but not EVERYTHING. Think about that phone that was in someone’s pocket and they went swimming in a pool filled with chlorine. How about a phone that takes a swim in an ocean filled with corrosive, superconductive saltwater? After that, chemicals like chlorine and ocean salt can cause irreparable damage. Sometimes these devices can be rescued, but not every time.

Call it what you want. We will do our best at fixing all devices. TV’s, phones, tablets, and yes, even your old flip phone or pager, if we can get parts for it, chances fall in your favor that we can fix it.

At the end of the day, we will do our best to help accommodate your repair needs. So will the majority of all repair companies out there. In order for us to pay our bills, rent, payroll, we have to fix stuff for you.

Contact a Quality iPhone or iPad Repair Company

After you take the time to do your research on a company’s reviews, give them a call to get a feel for the company. For instance, see how they answer the phone. If they answer in a polite and professional manner and are willing to help answer your questions, why not give them a chance? Plenty of skilled techs are out there to help you out. It’s just a matter of giving them a chance. Chances are you’ll encounter someone that really wants to help.

If you find someone that’s passionate about providing quality iPhone or iPad repair, they will do what they can to come to a positive solution for you.

When a Repair Goes Wrong

What should you do if something doesn’t go as planned with your repair service?

The reality of things is that from time to time, issues may arise with a repair. Above all, please keep in mind everyone is human. Sometimes things may not go as smooth as possible. That is important to remember. However, a reputable repair shop will stand behind what the issue is, and get it sorted in a timely and professional manner.

Conclusion: Give a Repair Company a Shot

In conclusion, there are a lot of quality iPhone and iPad repair companies out there. With some basic due diligence and some understanding, a visit to a repair shop near you can be a great experience. Finding someone based on reputation, community appeal, and an overall positive appearing business based on these key factors can and will help you out when it comes to repairing your device. If you can’t find one or are having any troubles, feel free to utilize our mail-in option for a quick, reliable service.

Quality iPhone X Screen Repair: What to Look For

With so many options available on the market, it’s hard to decide where to go for quality iPhone X screen repair in the unfortunate event that you drop it and need a repair.

iPhone X Screen Repair Warranty

Lowest price isn’t always the best option. Sometimes the only option is to contact Apple or an Authorized Service Provider. There are certain things to be wary of and certain things that you may or may not know of. As a minimum, any quality iPhone X screen repair should include a warranty. All our screen repairs come with a 1-year warranty. Some other 3rd party locations come with a 90-day warranty. Make sure the business is a quality iPhone repair company and not just a fly-by-night person/business. What happens if you go with the cheapest and it turns out that the cheapest was just that, cheapest parts, cheapest workmanship, cheapest non-existent warranty.

OLED vs LCD

First off, let’s start with a little bit of history and information about the iPhone X and how it differs from previous generations. The iPhone X has what is called an OLED screen. You may have heard that term with other phones, computers, and more than likely in the TV industry. Samsung devices have been using AMOLED screens dating back to the S2 and S3 devices. The technology is a bit different with OLED screens. The specifics I’ll save for another post. However, OLED screen technology has improved so much over the years in both brightness and clarity. Therefore, the majority of all new phones now use this tech.

When hunting for an iPhone X Repair, make sure that the service provider uses an OLED screen, even if aftermarket or refurbished. Some parts on the market utilize old LCD technology but fit and function on devices that originally came with OLED screens. While LCD’s serve as still great technology and many devices use this type of tech, the LCD screen is not as bright as the OLED screen. In other words, if you’re trying to save a buck or two the LCD will work fine. However, the iPhone X costs a lot and provides high-end performance, and you’d be sacrificing this performance and quality to save a few dollars.

There’s a new mascot in town and its name: Cracky! iFixYouri employees first spotted Cracky dancing in the iFixYouri Northlake parking lot in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. However, once it had a cold brew from Johan’s Joe and got a feel for pleasing the crowd, it moved closer towards Northlake Blvd to show off for the passing cars.

Cracky is… well… an iPhone, a big neon green iPhone. Expect to see Cracky on a street or in a parking lot near any of our Palm Beach County or even Orlando-area locations. Cracky loves smartphone repair, and Cracky loves you. Have a great day!

iPad Mini 1st Gen Glass Removal

iPad Mini 1st Gen Glass Removal can be completed yourself if you have the right tools and know-how. It just takes a little care and following the steps detailed in this guide. If you have trouble, you can visit iFixYouri for professional iPad Repair services.

Before we begin, there are some tips to keep in mind to keep the repair going smoothly. The heat pad is required to loosen the adhesive. Take your time getting the spudger in and you can complete the removal pretty easily. Keep your screws organized.

The real challenge is removing the digitizer clip and flex. You have to angle your spudger in, along with the lines of the edge of the iPad, so you don’t damage the connector. Use the spudger, not your fingernails.

Tools Required

iPad Mini 1st Gen Glass Removal Instructions

  1. Loosen adhesive with the heating pad (10min @ 75°C)
  2. Pry with metal spudger slowly and gently.
  3. Lift glass from bottom to avoid damage to the flex cable.
  4. Unscrew screen from the body with a Phillips head screwdriver. Keep your screws organized.
  5. Be extremely careful while removing the screen. Go gently around all the edges to loosen the LCD.
  6. Unscrew metal shield with your Phillips head screwdriver. Keep your screws organized.
  7. IMPORTANT: Disconnect the battery.
  8. Disconnect the LCD Flex.
  9. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL. Separate the backside of the digitizer flex from the housing.
  10. Then, USING A PLASTIC SPUDGER, remove the digitizer clip evenly from the logic board.
  11. If the end of the flex cable is still attached, align your spudger with the side of the iPad and disconnect it.

Conclusion

Did you make it? Congratulations. If pulling off this repair was troublesome for you, please contact a professional iPad repair shop for help.
